"Them's Cookin' Words!" - An Improv Recipe -

With the last few grains of freshly baked burghol wheat being rounded up by a grateful breakfast-er, the immediate memory of my resourceful (I thought so!) petit-dejeuner plan is with me as I type.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of 2% milk, heated, but not burned!
  • 2 "brown" grade A eggs, beaten but not whipped!
  • 3/4's of a cup of freshly soaked burghol wheat
  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt
Method:
  • Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees
  • Lightly grease stainless steel baking bowl with vegetable fat
  • Soak wheat in filtered water & drain
  • Beat the eggs & put aside
  • Stay by the cup of milk as it's heated but not boiled.
  • Spoon the drained, soaked bulghor wheat into baking bowl
  • Lift the hot milk saucepan high above the beaten eggs with one hand and whisk into the eggs with the other.
  • Add the salt.
  • Pour mixture over the waiting wheat in baking bowl
  • Place the bowl into the pre-heated oven for 25 minutes or so, depending on your oven.
Serve with Summerland Sweets Saskatoon Berry Sauce, and you have one of the best breakfasts ever!

The idea for this recipe came to me at Sunrise in the last Sunday of October, 2011.
Enjoy!
